Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Addiction is simply a craze for a particular thing,which is difficult to curb despite realizing that particular thing is harming you. It is necessary to understand the meaning of addiction otherwise one will never evaluate the harmful effect of it on one’s self. Every single day a person be it an youth or a middle aged one is getting addicted to harmful substances like drugs and alcohol , knowing well that one sip of alcohol or one dose of drug is pushing them towards the end and soon there would be a time when saying no to alcohol or drugs would be impossible for them. That’s what addiction is.
A dual struggle surrounds alcohol and drug consumers. On one hand there is the problem of leaving this habit and on the other hand is the strong desire of getting back to the normal life. One can think that it is easy to heal up gradually but it is not an cup of tea. It was once estimated that 56% of youths get addicted to alcohol or drugs; they think that doing drugs or having alcohol is a cool thing to do; while others get drawn towards these during moments of frustration, intense pain or due to loneliness. It does sound strange but this is the reality.
Research has shown that long term drug use affects brain function that persist long even after the individual has stopped using drugs. Alcoholism causes a set of complex behaviors due to which an individual becomes increasingly preoccupied after consuming alcohol.
Sweet 27 Club is a well known club for celebrities ;few are aware of the fact that Jimmy Hendrix and Ammy Winehouse were part of this Celebrity studded club and both died of Drug over dose. Thus from celebs to regular teen aged persons could get addicted to alcohol and drug. Once you get addicted you start losing control over your life.

This is quite natural we have seen that perhaps in a party we are celebrating one’s success or something and we raise a toast and express our well wishes. But what kind of well wishers are we? We are raising toast with something that is harmful for that person and even for us too. Therefore we should become aware and make others aware of harmful effects of addiction and make our lives and society a healthy.
