Why should we avoid junk food?

Junk food is fascinating to both young and old nowadays. Most of the youngsters are loosing or have almost lost their interest in eating vegetables and fruits as these are not able to satisfy the taste buds as much as the junk food. No doubt junk food is cheap and quick but it fails to provide us the nutrients that help our body to function properly. Eating Junk Food has become a trend. The young generation hates home made healthy food.

Consumption of junk food can cause chronic degenerative diseases, as well as hypertension, obesity, cardio-vascular problems and glucose intolerance. People who consume junk food fall sick often as this food eventually harms your liver. Junk food is full of fat and calories that gets converted into fat deposit in the body. Being over-weight affects the flow of oxygen to the brain cells and this can adversely effect concentration and memory.

Eating foods with high sodium content like what is present in chips and French fries can lead to high blood pressure. Junk foods have been identified as a major cause of heart diseases including Myocardial Infraction, Cardiac Arrest and Atherosclerosis. This is due to the fact that junk food contains excessive amount of low-density lipoproteins and cholesterol. Junk foods also cause damage to the pancreas resulting in Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM).

Drinking Soft Drinks adds dangerous toxins that affect our bones, skin & kidney. It may also cause problems like tooth decay & obesity. Junk foods are filled with harmful carbohydrates, fats and cholesterol that do not provide any useful energy. As a result, somebody consuming junk food has reduced level of essential nutrients that ultimately results in weakness in the body.

However, a nutrient intact healthy diet which is full of minerals, vitamins and iron is the best diet and provides you the power to defend against the illness of your body. Thus junk food should not be eaten as a solution to remove hunger. For that purpose one should always prefer the home made healthy food.

  • Junk food is detrimental to our health. Regular consumption of junk food can hamper your health in more ways than one. There is no nutritional value in these food items. These are often pricey and contains harmful elements. If you want to stay healthy then avoid junk food.

  • If you want to stay fit then you have to be cautious. Junk food could make you obese and could cause illness. So it is up to you what you want a fit and active body or pleasing your taste buds which would ultimately hamper your health.
